Morton, Muldrow lead No. 25 W. Virginia women past TCU 97-84

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) Jessica Morton had a career-high 26 points and Teana Muldrow a double-double to lead No. 25 West Virginia to a 97-84 win over TCU on Sunday.

Muldrow had 21 points and 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. Bria Holmes scored 22 points to move into third on the Mountaineers' career list with 1,756.

West Virginia (16-4, 5-2 Big 12) scored the last eight points of the first quarter to lead 21-13. The Mountaineers added a 9-0 run midway through the second quarter and, after a TCU 3-pointer, they closed the half with an 11-0 surge for a 50-23 lead. Muldrow had 14 points as West Virginia shot 61 percent (22 of 36).

TCU (11-8, 3-5) hit seven 3-pointers and shot 58 percent in the second half but couldn't dig out of the hole caused by 13 turnovers and 29 percent shooting in the first half (8 of 28).

AJ Alix had a career-high 26 points and Zahna Medley 16 for the Horned Frogs.
