Michigan 66, No. 23 Penn St. 62
Veronica Hicks and Carmen Reynolds each scored 18 points to help Michigan upset No. 23 Penn State 66-62 on Sunday.
Krista Phillips added 10 points, including a big 3-pointer, as the Wolverines (13-8, 5-6) won their third straight Big Ten game.
Michigan's Dayeesha Hollins broke a 60-all tie with a free throw with a minute left and Phillips added a huge cushion when her 3-pointer - her only basket of the second half - went through with 14 seconds to play.
The finish capped a wild day that saw the Wolverines in a 21-6 first-half hole after they opened the game 1-for-11 from the field. They trailed 34-26 at intermission, but made their first eight shots during a 19-6 run that got them back in the game.
Hicks played a big part in the early surge, making her first five shots. She had 16 points in the second half.
Tyra Grant had 19 points for the Lady Lions (15-6, 7-4), who dropped their second straight after starting January with six consecutive victories. Meredith Monroe added nine rebounds and Alex Bentley had five assists.
The loss cost Penn State a chance to gain ground on Big Ten leader Ohio State, which lost to Indiana.
