Clemson women's hoop coach on leave to give birth
Clemson first-year women's basketball coach Itoro Coleman is stepping away from the team for the birth of her third child.
Coleman's due date is Nov. 10, two days before the Lady Tigers open the season against UNC Greensboro. Coleman had hoped to deliver by Nov. 3 and return for her debut game. However, she said Tuesday that she's more likely to return by the end of November.
Clemson assistant coach Karleen Thompson will take over head coaching duties until Coleman comes back.
Coleman said it was in her family's best interest to take a temporary leave of abscence. She said the decision was not because of any complications or emergencies with the pregnancy.
She and husband Harold Coleman have two daughters, 6-year-old Jada and 1-year-old Jordan.
