Think the Dana White-Tito Ortiz boxing match that never happened was all a work? Think again.

The UFC president says he trained hard for the bout, bringing in pro heavyweight boxers to spar with every day. There’s even video proof to back up his claims.

“More people think that it was fake,” White said on FOX Sports.com’s “The Fighter & The Kid” podcast. “There was nothing fake about it. I trained my ass off.”

The whole thing seemed a little shady back in 2007 when it happened. Ortiz said he would only re-sign with the UFC after a contract dispute to coach “The Ultimate Fighter” if it was written into the deal that he got to box White, his one-time manager and on-again, off-again friend.

The “exhibition” match was going to be taped and aired later on Spike TV. White, who was once an amateur boxer, said he had to get licensed by the Nevada State Athletic Commission to compete. But Ortiz never showed up for the weigh-ins and the whole thing never went down.

Ortiz said in a recent interview that White wants to fight a fighter to be famous, a claim White says is ridiculous.

“You f***ing clown,” White said. “You put it in the contract to fight me. I didn’t ask to fight Tito.”

White and Ortiz had ups and downs in their relationship when Ortiz fought for the UFC. Now that Ortiz is gone, they are sworn enemies with Ortiz ripping White every chance he gets. It’s a two-way street, too. White doesn’t usually miss a chance to blast the former UFC light heavyweight champion.

The UFC boss has still not gotten over the fact that he never got a chance to punch Ortiz in the face on national TV. He said the two sparred in the past and “things didn’t go well for Tito.”

“That f***ing p***y pulled out of the fight,” White said. “I’m still upset.”

White knows he would never have won an MMA fight with Ortiz, an accomplished wrestler. Especially back in 2007, when Ortiz was still one of the best in the world.

“Tito would kill me,” White said of an MMA bout. “Tito would murder me. … Tito would literally rip my head off and pull my spine out.”

So, is a boxing match between the two still a possibility? Not a chance, White said.

“I’m 44 years old,” he said. “I fight every day to get on the treadmill.”
