Watch CM Punk's Open Workout Before UFC 203 (Video)

Before competing in the octagon for the first time on Saturday at UFC 203, CM Punk had his first open workout.
At UFC 181, CM Punk announced that he signed a deal to fight for the UFC. When he would compete remained a mystery for almost two years, due to injuries and getting trained for his first time in the octagon. However, Punk would be deemed good to go for UFC 203 on Saturday, September 10. He’ll face Mickey Gall in his debut.
Punk’s UFC debut has been anticipated, as he is making the transition from a long career as a professional wrestler, to stepping in for a round-by-round fight. Wrestlers like WWE’s Brock Lesnar and TNA’s Bobby Lashley have had successful careers in MMA. Others like Ken Shamrock, Dan Severn, and in modern-day wrestling, Matt Riddle have been able to do the crossover from MMA to the ring, too. So, there is some history there for athletes going back and forth in these sports.
Before UFC 203, there would be an open workout for fans and media members to see Punk in action. UFC posted this live video on Facebook of the session. It lasted for about 17 minutes.
UFC 203 will be the first time viewers have seen Punk appear on a program since WWE Royal Rumble 2014. This saw the Straight Edge Superstar compete in the Royal Rumble match, being one of the last ones eliminated. He would walk out of Monday Night Raw one evening later, and never returned to the company. Punk has trashed WWE on many occasions since.
What happens when CM Punk steps into the octagon on Saturday should be intriguing. He has a multi-fight deal with UFC, so this won’t be the last time fans see him. How they view him as a fighter could change after the result of his UFC 203 fight, though.
