Urijah Faber has announced his retirement following his fight in Sacramento


The long time UFC bantamweight contender Urijah Faber has announced his intention to retire following his next fight in his hometown Sacramento, CA.
The longtime UFC bantamweight fighter Urijah Faber has made a big announcement today while he was a guest on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani. He has made the decision to retire from professional mixed martial arts following his next fight at UFC on Fox 22. This card will be held in Faber’s hometown of Sacramento, CA, and will be headlined by his teammate Paige Van Zant. Van Zant will be fighting Michelle Waterson in a five-round main event.
Faber (33-10) has been constantly at the top of the bantamweight division since he first arrived in the UFC back in 2011. He came over from the World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC), where he was the longtime featherweight champion. During his time in the WEC, he beat some of the best in MMA history including current UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz and Jens Pulver. When he came to the UFC he continued his dominance, by was never able to obtain that UFC belt. Faber, who is one of the most recognizable faces in the UFC is the owner of Team Alpha Male in California. Team Alpha Male is the home to many UFC fighters including Paige Van Zant and Cody Garbrandt.
As Faber spoke to Helwani he said: “I want to go out feeling great and have an amazing fight.” He went on to say ” I feel it is the right time, I am excited to get into entertainment, and build businesses.”
Faber will be finishing off his amazing career in hos own backyard, when he takes of Brad Pickett on December 17, 2016. He is currently coming off of two consecutive losses. he lost a shot at the belt against Dominick Cruz at UFC 199 and most recently he lost a tough decision aginst Jimmie Rivera at UFC 203.
