UFC returns to Phoenix on January 15 with UFC Fight Night 103
The UFC will be returning to the Grand Canyon State with UFC Fight Night 103
On Friday afternoon, UFC officials announced the promotion will be returning to Talking Stick Resort Arena in Downtown Phoenix, Arizona to bring fight fans UFC Fight Night 103 on January 15.
This will mark the first event held Phoenix since UFC on FOX 13, which was headlined by a heavyweight clash between current champion Stipe Miocic and former champion Junior dos Santos. Fan favorites Nate Diaz, Rafael dos Anjos, Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Henry Cejudo were also featured on the card.
The main event has yet to be announced, but three fights have been confirmed for the Phoenix card. Heavyweight bouts featuring Cyril Asker (7-2) vs. Dmitri Smoliakov (8-1), Viktor Pesta (10-3) vs. Damian Grabowski (20-4) and a light heavyweight clash between Joachim Christensen (13-4) vs. Bojan Mihalovic (10-4) are the only fights official so far.
Asker entered the UFC riding a five-fight winning streak but was knocked out in his promotional debut against Jarred Cannonier at UFC Fight Night 86 this past April. Smoliakov suffered a similar fate as he saw his perfect record come to an end at the hands of Luis Henrique at UFC on FOX 20.
Similarly, Pesta will also look to right the ship after compiling a record of 1-3 record in the UFC after starting his career with nine consecutive victorious. His opponent, Grabowski, has lost back-to-back fights since making his UFC debut this past February. In his most recent contest, fans saw him suffer a violent 14-second knockout loss to Anthony Hamilton at UFC 201 in July.
Christensen and Mihajlovic will also be looking to get back into the win column after suffering losses in their respective UFC debuts.
The entire main card will air on FOX Sports 1.
