UFC Houston Results: Chas Skelly Wins Second Consecutive Fight

Chas Skelly wins his second straight match after defeating Chris Gruetzemacher by putting him in a rear-naked choke and forcing him to submit.
Chas Skelly put on an impressive performance in front of his home state of Texas at UFC Houston. Skelly showcased his wrestling in the fight, more so in the second round when he defeated Chris Gruetzemacher by submission.
Skelly got behind Gruetzemacher and dragged him to the ground. Skelly managed to stay behind Gruetzemacher while forcing the fight to the ground, locking in the rear-naked choke near the corner. Gruetzemacher attempted to push off the cage, but could not find his way out. Gruetzemacher was left with no choice, but to tap out.
Gruetzemacher drops to 13-2 in his career. He lost his second career fight, then put together 12 consecutive wins, with his most recent win in the finale for Season 22 of The Ultimate Fighter. But that streak has now been snapped as he will enter his next fight coming off a loss.

As for Skelly, He improves to 17-2 and has won two straight fights, both by submission. The former Bellator and Legacy FC veteran now holds a 6-2 record while fighting in the UFC. His last loss came 11 months ago to Darren Elkins at UFC 196.
Skelly hopes to improve and eventually become ranked soon in a stacked featherweight division. Having fought in front of his home state, Skelly said in his octagon interview that he does not care who he fights next. However, he pleaded with the UFC brass that he wants to fight in Dallas, Texas in May.
With Chas Skelly’s impressive showing, his wrestling is his biggest strength and poses as a threat for future opponents as he tries to work his way up. Skelly places third for most submissions in UFC featherweight bouts with four in his career. He stands behind recently retired Urijah Faber with five and Charles Oliveira with six.
