UFC champ Chris Weidman signs with powerhouse talent agency WME
Chris Weidman could be about to make it big.
Fresh off his win over Lyoto Machida at UFC 175 on Saturday, the UFC middleweight champion has signed with powerhouse talent agency William Morris Endeavor, UFC Tonight's Ariel Helwani reports. Weidman's new agent is Brad Slater, who also represents UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey and The Rock.
WME will focus on Weidman's future in film, TV, books, commercial endorsements and philanthropic endeavors. He also has a new manager in Shane McCassy of Manage Create, LLC.
Weidman, 30, won the middleweight title last July when he stunningly knocked out Anderson Silva. He then beat Silva again to retain the title in July when Silva broke his leg in the second round when Weidman checked a hard leg kick.
The win over Machida was Weidman's first title defense against someone other than Silva. It was a gutty victory for Weidman, who seemed to get tired in the fourth round after dominating Machida throughout the first 15 minutes.
It's likely Weidman will get Vitor Belfort next sometime before the end of the year. And maybe you'll see him in movies soon, too.
