Brandon Moreno will look to continue his UFC success with a step down in competition against Ryan Benoit at the TUF 24 Finale.

La Aficion first reported the UFC flyweight matchup.

Not many people start their UFC career with a win over a perennial top contender. Brandon Moreno did just that when he stunned the MMA world when he submitted top-10 flyweight Louis Smolka on short notice last month. Now he will fight in the finale of the season that declared him the 16-seed, owning the most notable win on the cast.

Moreno was the flyweight champion of World Fighting Federation, which earned him a spot on TUF 24’s cast of champions. “Assassin Baby” defended his title three times with two first-round submissions prior to being invited on to the show.

On the seed-based TUF tournament, Moreno, the 16th-seed, lined up against the top seeded Alexandre Pantoja of RFA. Pantoja ended up winning via submission in the second round.

Moreno’s Octagon dreams lived on though when he was called up to replace Sergio Pettis on very late notice against Louis Smolka. After a stunning first-round guillotine, Moreno will look to prove he is no fluke.

Ryan Benoit dropped to the flyweight division to compete in the UFC and has been up-and-down since making his debut. In between submission losses to Josh Sampo and Ben Nguyen, Benoit pulled off an upset to defeat Sergio Pettis via TKO.

“Baby Face” snuck by Fredy Serrano in his last fight in July with a close split decision to rebound from the Nguyen loss. In both of his Octagon victories, Benoit landed strikes after the bell.

The TUF 24 Finale takes place on December 3 from the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. Demitrious “Mighty Mouse” will look to continue his flyweight dominance against whoever comes out of the stacked TUF 24 tournament victorious. Top contenders and TUF coaches Henry Cejudo and Joseph Benavidez will battle it out in the co-main event.
