UFC 207: Cain Velasquez-Fabricio Werdum Rematch Official

UFC 207 was heavily rumored to contain a rematch between former heavyweight champions Fabricio Werdum and Cain Velasquez, now the fight has been made official.
Yahoo’s Kevin Iole reported the matchup, who works closely with the UFC.
Cain Velasquez will finally get a shot at revenge against Fabricio Werdum. The pair of heavyweights were scheduled to headline a pay-per-view card in February, but Velasquez suffered an injury and the event was turned into a free Fight Night.
Their first match occurred in June 2015 in a title unification match, with Werdum holding the interim belt. Velasquez’s well-respected cardio failed him in the fight at high-elevation, and he was submitted by Werdum in the third round. Velasquez’s second title reign came to an end after two defenses.
Since then, Velasquez returned to action in July and looked excellent. The Mexican-American soundly defeated Travis Browne in one round, and debuted some unexpected wheel kicks.
Werdum was unable to defend his title after winning it from Velasquez. After literally running into Stipe Miocic’s right hand, the Brazilian’s title reign ended before it could get started in May. Werdum returned four months later to outclass Travis Browne for three rounds, nearly brawling with Browne’s corner afterwards.
This is the fourth time Velasquez and Werdum have been scheduled against each other. Only one fight between the two has occurred due to injuries to Velasquez. Hopefully he will make the walk to the Octagon in December.
According to Cage Pages, Fabricio Werdum is the top heavyweight contender while Velasquez is just behind him at second.
UFC 207 will be held in the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on December 30. The New Year’s Eve card is highlighted by the return of one of the sport’s biggest stars, Ronda Rousey, as she tries to reclaim her title from current champion Amanda Nunes.
