UFC 204 results: Gegard Mousasi pounds out Vitor Belfort

Here is how the UFC 204 middleweight bout between Vitor Belfort and Gegard Mousasi played out.
The UFC 204 co-main event features a middleweight bout between UFC veteran Vitor Belfort (25-12) and former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi (39-6-2).
Belfort enters the octagon at UFC 204 after a disappointing appearance in May against Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza at UFC 198. “The Phenom” was overwhelmed by Souza, losing by TKO in the first round.
Before the setback, Belfort knocked out Dan Henderson at UFC Fight Night 77. The win brought hope to the fighter’s goal of putting together another run at the title. Now, it is possible this fight will be his last as an MMA fighter.
Unlike Belfort, Mousasi enters this fight on the heels of recent success. The Armenian fighter is currently riding a two-fight win streak. In February, Mousasi outpointed former middleweight title challenger Thales Leites. He followed that performance up in July with a first-round knockout over Thiago Santos at the historic UFC 200 event in Las Vegas.
Mousasi has been campaigning for a long time to face off against Belfort. He used social media on numerous occasions to trash Belfort for avoiding their booking and accuse Belfort of using performance-enhancing drugs. Mousasi finally got Belfort to sign on the dotted line and he looks to back up the trash talk tonight.
