UFC 188: Velasquez vs. Werdum viewing and schedule guide

Published Jun. 8, 2015 2:37 p.m. ET

Cain Velasquez returns to action this weekend in Mexico as he looks to reclaim his spot as the only heavyweight champion in the UFC when he faces Fabricio Werdum in a fight nearly a year in the making.

Velasquez originally was scheduled to meet Werdum last year, but injuries forced him to pull out of the fight and the UFC decided to create an interim title while he was gone.

Werdum won the belt and now he'll try to unify the titles with Velasquez this weekend as the two heavyweights meet in the second-ever UFC show in Mexico.

Also on the card, former Strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez attempts to settle a long-standing personal grudge with Eddie Alvarez in a pivotal matchup at 155 pounds.
