UFC 187 features Jones vs. Rumble, Weidman vs. Belfort, Cowboy vs. Nurmagomedov

The upcoming UFC 187 card on Memorial Day weekend from Las Vegas will be one of the biggest shows of the year, as UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones takes on Anthony "Rumble" Johnson in the main event while middleweight champ Chris Weidman puts his belt on the line against Vitor Belfort in the co-main event.
In addition to those two title fights, Khabib Nurmagomedov faces Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone in a bout that likely will determine the next contender at 155 pounds.
UFC officials confirmed the fights on "UFC Tonight" Wednesday night.
The light heavyweight title fight has been rumored for the May card for the past few weeks after Johnson demolished Alexander Gustafsson to earn his title shot against Jones.
Jones, the most dominant title holder in UFC light heavyweight history, is coming off a big win of his own over Daniel Cormier at UFC 182, and will make his ninth consecutive defense since winning the belt in 2011.
The co-headliner features a long awaited middleweight title bout between Weidman and Belfort, who have been scheduled on three occasions, but have yet to face off. An injury to Weidman forced the latest cancellation in January, but now the champion is healthy and ready to go.
The final fight announced on Wednesday features two of the best lightweights in the world as Nurmagomedov returns from injury to face Cerrone, who already has two wins in the first few weeks of 2015, scoring unanimous decisions over Benson Henderson on Jan. 18 and Myles Jury on Jan. 3.
UFC 187: Jones vs. Johnson will take place on May 23 from Las Vegas with more fights still to be added to the card.
