Following a two week hiatus with no fights, the UFC has returned with a championship pay-per-view this weekend at UFC 179 emanating from Brazil as featherweight king Jose Aldo puts his title up for grabs once again as he faces Chad Mendes, who enters the fight on a five fight win streak.

Mendes has been tearing through the featherweight division ever since he lost to Aldo more than two years ago.  He's picked up four knockouts or TKO's in his last five fights and he feels more prepared now than ever before to snatch the gold from around Aldo's waist.

Also on the card, former No. 1 contender at light heavyweight Glover Teixeira looks to rebuild from his recent loss to champion Jon Jones when he takes on another top 10 fighter in Phil Davis in Brazil.  Davis is trying to erase the bad memory of his last fight as well when he fell by decision to Anthony Johnson in April.

With both fighters looking to avoid a potential two-fight losing streak, there's plenty on the line in this one.

Heavy handed slugger and fan favorite Fabio Maldonado is also on the card as well as Neil Magny, who looks to get his fifth win in 2014.
