Woodley (16-3), a two-time NCAA Division I All-American out the University of Missouri, dethroned former champion Robbie Lawler at UFC 201 in July. Almost immediately following his victory, “The Chosen One” called for a matchup against either former champ Georges St-Pierre or fan favorite Nick Diaz, much to the chagrin of Thompson.

Prior to claiming gold against Lawler, fans saw Woodley finish Dong Hyun Kim with strikes before earning a split decision over Kelvin Gastelum. To date, his last defeat came at the hands of former title challenger, and recent Bellator MMA signee, Rory MacDonald. He will enter this contest with 11 career stoppage wins, including six by way of (T)KO, and a UFC record of 6-2.

Thompson (13-1), is coming off the biggest win of his career in the form of a unanimous decision over MacDonald in their main event fight at UFC Fight Night 89 in June, extending his win streak to seven straight.

Prior to his win over MacDonald, ‘Wonderboy’ scored a blistering first round TKO over former champion Johny Hendricks in February. This marked the seventh career (T)KO victory, with four coming under the UFC banner, all of which earned him a Performance of the Night bonus.

Here is how the rest of the card is shaping up:

UFC 205 will go down on November 12 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. This historic event will mark the UFC’s first event in the State of New York.
