Ryan Bader scores walk-off knock out over Ilir Latifi at UFC Fight Night 93


Here is how the UFC Fight Night 93 light heavyweight fight between Ryan Bader vs. Ilir Latifi played out.
On Saturday, September 3, light heavyweight Ryan Bader and Ilir Latifi locked horns on the main card of UFC Fight Night 93. The entire event went down at the Barclaycard Arena in Hamburg, Germany.
Latifi looked to improve on the most impressive win streak of his career. In his most recent contest “The Sledgehammer” earned decision over Gian Villante at UFC 196 in March. This win extended his win streak to three straight.
Bader, winner of season eight of The Ultimate Fighter, was looking to get back into the win column after suffering a first round TKO to Anthony Johnson at UFC on FOX 18 in December. This setback snapped his five fight win streak, which included decisions wins over former champion Rashad Evans and fellow collegiate wrestling standout Phil Davis.
Here is how the fight unfolded, round-by-round, including FanSided’s scoring of the fight.
ROUND 1: With a touch of the gloves, these two light heavyweights met in the center of the cage. Latifi immediately took to the outside as Bader cemented himself in the center of the Octagon. Latifi threatened with the takedown early but Bader defended and followed up with a high kick. Latifi lunged in with a combo as Bader evaded, planting a jab between the eyes of his opponent. After defending another takedown, Bader landed a series of thunderous liver kicks. After eating yet another kick to the mid-section, Latifi lunged in with a looping haymaker, narrowly missing Bader’s skull. With 10-seconds left in the round, Latifi looked to press the action with more haymakers, dropping his opponent momentarily with a right hook. ROUND 2: With another touch of the gloves, both men looked to pick up where they left off. Bader immediately looked to establish his right hand but Latifi countered with a combo. Bader shot in for a takedown but Latifi defended and pressed the action into the cage. Both men eventually broke free and Bader looked to connect with his own combo. Latifi evaded as he wagged his finger at his opponent. Latifi shot in for another takedown but ran right into the knee of Bader, who sent his opponent crumpling to the canvas with a thunderous head kick. With Latifi unconscious before he even hit the canvas, Bader raised his hands in victory as he walked off with a vicious second round knockout.
