UFC fans could finally get the long-awaited matchup between former champions Rashad Evans and Shogun Rua, as UFC officials are reportedly working on adding the bout to the UFC on FOX card scheduled for April, according to a report from MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani and originally reported by Combate.

The location has not been revealed, but the lightweight title bout between Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov will also likely be featured on the card.

Rua and Evans were originally supposed to face off at UFC 128 in 2011 for the UFC light heavyweight title before Evans injured his knee and was replaced by Jon Jones.

Evans is coming off a loss to title contender Ryan Bader after a nearly two-year absence from the sport, while Rua looks to string together victories for the first time since 2009 after a decision victory over Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at UFC 190.
