The UFC's first trip to Brazil in 2015 is set for February 22 in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul Brazil and the main event will pit former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans against Glover Teixeira in a five round bout likely airing on FOX Sports 1.

UFC officials announced the new fight via Twitter on Thursday following an initial report from Globo and additionally confirmed the fight to FOX Sports as well.

Evans (19-3-1) has been out of action since November 2013 when he defeated Chael Sonnen at the UFC's 20th anniversary show in Las Vegas.  The former light heavyweight champion was supposed to return in February 2014, but he suffered a knee injury, which knocked him out of scheduled fight against Daniel Cormier at UFC 170.

He was then rumored for the upcoming UFC Fight Night on FOX card on January 24, but Evans stated his knee wouldn't be quite ready in time for a camp to fight that soon.

So now instead, Evans will book a fight about a month later for the UFC Fight Night show in Brazil where he'll go to battle with former title contender, Glover Teixeira.

Teixeira (22-4) is looking to get back on solid ground after suffering the first back-to-back losses of his career.

Teixeira lost to current champion Jon Jones in April before suffering another defeat in his return to the Octagon against Phil Davis in October.  If Teixeira hopes to stay near the top of the rankings a win over Evans is paramount to his future.

The upcoming UFC Fight Night card from Brazil is expected to take place on February 22 with more bouts to be announced in the coming days.
