Paige VanZant: I will NEVER go up to 135 to fight Ronda Rousey

Published Mar. 25, 2016 12:02 a.m. ET

Paige VanZant has looked up to Ronda Rousey since before she joined the UFC, and like Ronda, her star continues to rise even after suffering her first loss.

Just 21, Paige already is becoming a mainstream success, joining "Dancing with the Stars," and she's lobbying for a fight at the much-anticipated UFC 200 in July.

However, there's one big-money fight she won't even entertain: Paige says she will "never" move up to 135 pounds to fight Ronda.

"It's not even a possibility," PVZ told TMZ.

Paige clearly sees she's already become a star without beating anybody, and the fans certainly aren't clamoring for a matchup with Ronda right now, not with Miesha Tate and Holly Holm (and possibly Cyborg) standing in line.

If Ronda returns and vanquishes all those foes, and Paige dominates the strawweights and wins the belt, then maybe the fans start calling for that fight. But that could take a couple years at this rate, and Ronda could be done by then. And if she's not, well, no need for PVZ to start lining up that potential butt-whupping now. She's doing just fine without facing that arm-bar.
