Miesha Tate will face off against Raquel Pennington at UFC 205
A women’s bantamweight fight between former UFC champion Miesha Tate and fan favorite Raquel Pennington has officially been added to UFC 205 in New York City. ESPN was the first to report the bout.
Tate (18-5), also a former Strikeforce champion, will look rebound after dropping his 135-pound title at the hands of a violent first round TKO to current champ Amanda Nunes at UFC 200 in July. This setback not only snapped her four fight streak but also marked just her second career (T)KO loss.
The woman known as ‘Cupcake’ previously earned her UFC title with a thrilling come from behind fifth round submission over former champ Holly Holm at UFC 196 in March.
Pennington (8-5), a veteran of season 18 of The Ultimate Fighter, was last seen earning a decision over Elizabeth Phillips at UFC 202. This extender her win streak to three straight as she previously submitted Jessica Andrade before earning a decision over former title challenger Bethe Correia. Pennington will enter this contest with four career stoppage wins, including three by way of submission.
Also added to the highly anticipated card is a welterweight clash between Belal Muhammad vs. Lyman Good. UFC official confirmed the fight following an initial report by Newsday.
For Muhammad (10-1), a former Titan FC champion, this bout will mark his third fight in five months since he joining with the UFC earlier this year. The 28-year-old Chicago native broke onto the scene in July with where fans saw him dropping a bloody decision to Alan Jouban. The man known as ‘Remember the Name’ rebounded a third-round TKO over Augusto Montano at UFC Fight Night 94 last Saturday.
Good (19-3), a former Bellator MMA and CFFC champion, has not been seen inside the Octagon since walking away with knockout victory in UFC debut against Andrew Craig in July 2015. This pushed his unbeaten streak to six straight. To date 12 of his 19 wins have ended in stoppage with nine coming by way of (T)KO.
UFC 205 will go down on November 12 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. This historic event will mark the UFC’s first event in New York.
