Luke Rockhold apologizes to Jacare Souza, sheds light on injury that forced him out of fight

Luke Rockhold apologizes to Jacare Souza
On Tuesday, Rockhold took to his Instagram to shed some light on the severity of the injury that forced him out of the highly-anticipated rematch while expressing remorse to the fans.
“Right now there is nothing I want more than to get back into the cage and do what I love most,” wrote Rockhold. “Unfortunately, due to an injury to my left knee I had to withdraw from the fight. I apologize to the UFC, Jacare and most importantly to the fans. I will be back better than ever in pursuit of the belt.”
Rockhold (13-3), also the former Strikeforce champion, had previously defeated Jacare in their initial contest under the Strikeforce banner in 2011. The American Kickboxing Academy proudct was looking to get back into the win column after losing his belt in spectacular fashion to current champ Michael Bipsing at UFC 199 in June.
Prior to this setback, Rockhold submitted former light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida last April before dethroning then middleweight Chris Weidman with a dominant fourth round TKO at UFC 194.
There is currently no word on what the UFC will do with Jacare, but according to his manager Gilberto Faria, they are only interested in fighting Bisping next for the title.
Rockold and Jacare were scheduled to do battle in Melbourne, Australia at Rod Laver Arena. UFC officials have yet to announced a new main event.
