Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. 'Cowboy' Cerrone in the works for UFC 187

A pivotal lightweight bout is in the works for May between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone and it might be the easiest piece of matchmaking in UFC history.
According to UFC Tonight's Ariel Helwani, Nurmagomedov asked to face Cerrone on the Memorial Day weekend card currently set as UFC 186 in Las Vegas.
Cerrone responded and wanted to the same fight as well as the same date and location.
Sources close to the situation said the fight is now in the works for the card that will take place on May 23 with light heavyweight champion Jon Jones currently rumored for the main event against Anthony Johnson.
As of now, no fights have been officially confirmed for the UFC 187 fight card so it's all speculation until the bout agreements are issued, but it seems likely the Nurmagomedov and Cerrone matchup will land there once the dust settles.
The fight will likely crown the new No. 1 contender at 155-pounds considering Nurmagomedov has gone undefeated thus far in his UFC campaign while Cerrone has won his last seven fights in a row including victories over top 10 opponents Benson Henderson, Myles Jury and Edson Barboza.
