LAS VEGAS -- Jim Miller made short work of Japanese legend Takanori Gomi to kick off UFC 200 on Saturday night with a vicious ground-and-pound TKO victory in the first round.

Miller not only started off the card but he also became the first fighter to fight and win at both UFC 100 and UFC 200.

In 2009, Miller defeated former "Ultimate Fighter" winner Mac Danzig by unanimous decision at UFC 100.

With the win over Gomi on Saturday, Miller moves into the history books as the first fighter to win at both cards.

Miller wasted no time when the fight started to get Gomi to the mat, and he immediately locked on a body triangle and started fishing for a rear naked choke finish.

Gomi was able to resist the choke, but Miller quickly transitioned to a ground-and-pound attack instead and after flattening the former PRIDE FC champion as he started wailing away with punches.

It didn't take long before the referee saw enough punishment being doled out, as Gomi could only put up his hands in defense without any attempt to wiggle free from the position.

The stoppage came at 2:18 into the first round.

“It’s big for me to have earned a win at both UFC 100 and 200," Miller said. "It’s another notch in the belt. I’ve been around for a while but haven’t really accomplished what I set out to do. I’m capable of doing it and getting the win at UFC 100 and 200, they’re just extra feathers in the cap. I’ve been feeling really good and able to get back to form. My last couple fights I didn’t really fight the way I normally do and what got me here and I think I’ve got everything figured out. I’m feeling a lot better and it’s easier to be aggressive.”

Miller now holds the honor with the wins at UFC 100 and UFC 200, but former heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar can join him in the history books later tonight if he gets past Mark Hunt in the co-main event. Lesnar defeated Frank Mir in the main event at UFC 100 in 2009.
