Jacare Souza meets Francis Carmont in co-main event for UFC Fight Night in Brazil

The upcoming UFC Fight Night event headed to Brazil has a new date and a new co-main event pitting two top ten middleweights against one another in a featured bout.
The fight card headlined by middleweights Lyoto Machida and Gegard Mousasi was originally scheduled on Feb 8 in Brazil, but instead will be pushed back a week and now take place on Feb 15 instead.
The new co-main event bout announced by UFC officials on Tuesday will see former Strikeforce champion Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza look to make it three in a row inside the Octagon as he takes on streaking middleweight Francis Carmont.
Souza has been an absolutely force of nature since debuting in the UFC earlier this year after transferring over from the now defunct Strikeforce promotion. In his two fights, Souza has submitted Chris Camozzi and made short work of perennial middleweight contender Yushin Okami. Now with a potential title shot looming over head in the next year, Souza will look to keep his championship hopes alive while looking to end another fighter's impressive winning streak.
With 11 consecutive wins in a row, Francis Carmont has slowly climbed the ranks of the middleweight division and finally got a spot in the top ten after defeating Costa Philippou by decision in his last bout. A training partner of welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre, Carmont has slipped under the radar for the biggest part of his undefeated UFC run, but now he'll take a big step up in the division facing a contender like Souza.
Souza vs. Carmont will co-headline the show taking place at
Jaragua do Sul, Santa Catarina in Brazil on February 15 with the
show airing on FOX Sports 1 in the United States.
