Gunnar Nelson vs. Rick Story headlines UFC Fight Night in Sweden

The upcoming UFC Fight Night card landing in Stockholm, Sweden has found its main event as prodigal welterweight standout Gunnar Nelson will look to keep his undefeated record in tact when he faces veteran competitor Rick Story in the five round headline fight on October 4.

UFC officials announced the new bout on Thursday.

Nelson (13-0-1) has quickly become one of the most talked about fighters on the UFC roster with a grappling pedigree that includes a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under famed trainer Renzo Gracie and a growing fan base attracted to his no nonsense style both in and out of the cage.

For his last fight, Nelson added Irish superstar Conor McGregor and his team as he looks to climb the welterweight rankings.  Following his last win, Nelson actually called for a fight against top five ranked fighter Rory MacDonald, but the UFC opted to go in a different direction although he'll still get to headline the show in Sweden.

Opposing Nelson in October will be veteran fighter Rick Story (17-8), who is often considered one of the toughest matchups for any fighter in the division with his raw power and natural wrestling skills.  Story has faced a who's who of fighters at welterweight and holds a win over current champion Johny Hendricks from 2010.

Story recently picked up his training and moved to work full time with the MMA Lab team in Arizona under the tutelage of coach John Crouch, where he also trains alongside former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson.  The results showed in his last fight as he dominated Leonardo Mafra and finished the fight with a second round arm-triangle choke.

Now Story will attempt to derail the hype train of Gunnar Nelson when the two welterweights square off in Sweden this October.
