Green Ranger Jason David Frank still wants fight with CM Punk
The actor behind the iconic Green Ranger character from the Power Rangers series, Jason David Frank, still wants a shot at CM Punk.
Back in September, CM Punk made his long-awaited MMA debut in the UFC. Signing with the promotion back in 2014, Punk trained for almost two years under the tutelage of Duke Roufus and other top MMA fighters, including UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley and former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis.
At UFC 203, he finally faced off against Mickey Gall. Punk was able to hang in there for two minutes, but Gall had his way with the WWE star after securing a takedown, landing some nice ground-and-pound and sinking in a choke, forcing Punk to tap. It’s unknown where Punk will go from here, but he still wants to fight.
Punk is in a strange predicament, considering he’s barely any experience in the sport, so it’s hard to find an opponent for him, especially in the UFC. But, there’s one fighter who has wanted this fight for a long time, and it’s none other than the Green Ranger from the Power Rangers series, Jason David Frank.
When Punk announced that he wanted to compete in MMA, JDF was one of the very first people to throw his name into the hat. During Punk’s panel at C2E2, he fired some shots at JDF and basically shut down any chances at a fight between the two. He even went on to say that he doesn’t know who JDF is. JDF responded with a video:
JDF still wants a fight with Punk and in an interview with TMZ, he states his cases for a matchup with him.
JDF says he knew Punk would lose to Gall. Regardless, if the fight doesn’t end up happening, JDF is in talks with Bellator MMA to fight some time in 2017, so he may return to the cage after all.
The UFC should really get on top of this. You put a fight between former WWE superstar, CM Punk, and the iconic Green Ranger, Jason David Frank, and it’s a recipe for greatness. Many would tune in for this fight.
