A fight that should have gone down years ago is reportedly in the works, as two of the best of all-time, Georges St. Pierre and Anderson Silva, may finally face off.

With UFC 206 already shaping up to be a huge card in Toronto, there’s only one fighter that comes to mind: Georges St. Pierre. For those who are unaware with his situation, GSP retired back in 2013 after his controversial split decision win over Johny Hendricks, stating that he needed some time away from the sport.

After almost three years, he’s finally decided that he’s ready to step back in and make a run once again. With his four months of mandatory drug testing almost up, a lot of speculation has been pointing to him fighting in the main event of UFC 206.

Although it isn’t confirmed just yet, it’s definitely a no-brainer. What better way for GSP to return to the octagon than fighting in the main event in front of his people?

When it comes to his opponent, a lot of names come to mind. When Tyron Woodley first won the welterweight title after he knocked out Robbie Lawler, he expressed interest in facing GSP, but he’ll now be fighting Stephen Thompson first. GSP has also thrown out the names of potential opponents for him, including Woodley, Nick Diaz, and Demain Maia.

But, there’s one more fighter that could possibly face him and it’s Anderson Silva. According to UFC fighter Patrick Cote, it has been rumored for UFC 206.

We definitely agree with Cote’s statement where he expresses how late this fight is. In all honesty, this should have gone down years ago when both fighters were in their prime.

Now, we know Silva isn’t the same fighter he used to be and with GSP being out so long, we don’t know if he’ll still be as dominant as he once was. Regardless, it’s still a very interesting matchup.
