Fighters react to Stipe Miocic's come-from-behind win over Alistair Overeem

Published Nov. 15, 2016 2:13 p.m. ET

UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic defeated former Strikeforce champion Alistair Overeem in the main event of the UFC 203 on Saturday in front of a hometown crowd in Cleveland.

Overeem dropped Miocic with a kick in the early moments of the fight and threatened to end Mocic brief reign as champion in less than two minutes. But the Cleveland native showed plenty of resilience fighting off the submission attempt and getting the fight back to the feet. Once standing, Miocic found his range and began landing, at will, with crisp punches that forced Overeem’s back against the cage.

Overeem slipped during one exchange, and Miocic immediately pounced on the former champion and began raining down punches. Less than a minute later, the ref had seen enough and was prying Miocic off Overeem and calling an end to the fight.
