Erik Koch vs. Daron Cruickshank added to UFC Fight Night in Cincinnati

Published Feb. 27, 2014 11:19 a.m. ET

Just days removed from his emphatic rebound into the win column, Erik Koch already has his next fight lined up. The UFC lightweight will face Daron Cruickshank at the upcoming UFC Fight Night event in Cincinnati. The promotion announced the fight on UFC.com on Thursday.

The 25-year-old Koch won just last Saturday night, earning a quick knockout over Rafaello Oliveira at UFC 170. The emphatic triumph, which took just 84 seconds, was his first win since Sept. 2011, following two losses and a long injury layoff.

Koch's win also coincided with his return to the lightweight division after spending the entirety of his UFC/WEC run as a featherweight, and it moved his overall record to 14-3.

With a unique standup style, Cruickshank has turned out some of the most entertaining performances in the UFC. In his last fight, for example, he TKO'd Mike Rio with a wheel kick and ground strikes.

Cruikshank (14-4) has won four of his six bouts since beginning his UFC run.

The UFC Fight Night show takes place on May 10 from the U.S. Bank Arena.  A main event has yet to be announced for the show, which will mark the promotion's first time back in The Queen City since UFC 77, which saw Anderson Silva knock out Rich Franklin in a rematch of their 2006 bout.
