After knocking out Uriah Hall this past Saturday, Derek Brunson gets a quick turn around and will face Robert Whittaker at UFC Fight Night 101.

Going into UFC Fight Night 94 this past Saturday, Derek Brunson was riding a four-fight win streak, and his last three wins were all very impressive finishes over fighters like Sam Alvey and Roan Carneiro.

Facing Uriah Hall, it didn’t take Brunson very long to land a vicious left hand with well over a minute going into the first round. Once he dropped Hall, he went to follow up with some ground and pound, but the referee intervened and called the fight.

In his post-fight speech, Brunson made a case for him to be the next man in line for the title. He’s definitely a top contender, but he still needs a step up in competition before being considered for a shot at the title. Looks like he got just that.

With a quick turnaround, according to MMA Fighting, Brunson will now be facing rising middleweight contender Robert Whittaker at UFC Fight Night 101. That same night, another pair of middleweight contenders, Luke Rockhold and Jacare Souza, will be facing off to see who’s the next man in line to compete for the title.

Since making the jump up to the middleweight division, Robert Whittaker has been on an absolute tear. He holds wins over fighters like Clint Hester, Brad Tavares, Uriah Hall, and most recently, Rafael Natal. He’s slowly climbing the ranks, and a match-up with Brunson is a great fight for him.

With a win for either fighter, they can make a case for a number one contender match-up with any of the top five middleweights in the division. For example, Chris Weidman and Yoel Romero are facing off at UFC 205 in New York, so that would be an interesting test for Brunson or Whittaker.

UFC Fight Night 101: Rockhold vs. Jacare goes down on Nov. 27 in Melbourne, Australia.
