Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones separated after heated face-off

Published Jul. 6, 2016 4:45 p.m. ET

The first face-off between Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones ahead of UFC 200 ended with the fighters being separated by UFC president Dana White on Wednesday.

Jones and Cormier fired off a few verbal barbs at each other during the press conference, but the exchanges were fairly reserved.

The niceties faded quickly when Cormier and Jones stomped across the stage and came face to face for the first time during fight week.

Cormier and Jones immediately started jawing at each other as White got in between them to ensure the fight didn't start three days ahead of UFC 200.

The fighters continued to snap back and forth until security was forced to pull them away from each other.

As they walked away, Jones had a big smile as he held his interim light heavyweight title high in the air and the Las Vegas crowd roared in applause.

Cormier still was shouting at Jones when security finally forced both fighters off the stage.

It was only two years ago that Cormier and Jones got into a full-on brawl in the middle of the MGM Grand in Las Vegas after a heated face-off ahead of their first fight.

No punches were thrown and no shoves were exchanged Wednesday, but it's clear the disdain shared between Jones and Cormier is still palpable ahead of the rematch on Saturday night.
