Dana White says there will be a rematch of Woodley/Thompson

UFC president Dana White tells the media after UFC 205 that there will be a rematch of Tyron Woodley vs. Stephen Thompson after their bout ends in a majority draw.
UFC 205 lived up to the massive anticipation in every way last night at Madison Square Garden. It was the instant classic between the welterweight champion Tyron Woodley and the challenger Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson that took home the fight of the night honor. After a five round war, this title fight ended with a majority draw.
There was some confusion following the initial results were read aloud by the voice of the octagon Bruce Buffer. The original decision was a split decision with the score of 47-47, 47-47, and 48-47. Following the announcement that Woodley had retained his title, there was an announcement that the information was wrong.
The officials corrected the decision and announced that the fight was indeed a majority draw. This news did not sit well with the champ Woodley, and he was visibly upset leaving the octagon.
Following the conclusion of the main event, UFC president Dana White spoke to the media at the post-fight press conference about this incident and the possibility of a rematch. White said ” A rematch, the fight was ridiculous, it was the fight of the night, do it again. I think it makes sense.”
White was then asked where that left Damian Maia, who was thought to get the winner of Woodley/Thompson, he replied “Damian Maia is right there, he’ll get the next shot. If he wants to fight somebody else or wait.”
This was a card that broke every record that the UFC and Madison Square Garden had is terms of attendance. White feels that since Woodley vs. Thompson won the fight of the night honors at such a monstrous event, and ended in a draw proves how much this fight needs to be fought again, and the fans agree.
