Conor McGregor likes to shatter records almost as much as he likes to cash paychecks, and he just added one more accolade to his resume.
The record comes from Twitter after McGregor's 'retirement' post got more retweets in the past 20 hours than Kobe Bryant's when he announced the same thing last year.
Bryant's simple post that just said 'Dear Basketball' with a link to a lengthier explanation about his retirement to date has over 130,000 retweets.

Bryant's message was the most retweeted post for any athlete in 2015.
McGregor has managed to shatter that record with his own 'retirement' post.
As of now, McGregor's tweet about retiring has been shared over 152,000 times.
It's an insane statistic considering the impact Bryant's message had over social media last November.
This also showcases the drawing power of McGregor, who has quickly become the biggest pay-per-view draw in UFC history with his last three fights against Chad Mendes, Jose Aldo and Nate Diaz.
The only thing that might trump McGregor's announcement that he's retiring could be his decision to return to fighting one day.
For now, McGregor will enjoy another record. And if he's really retired, it might be one of the last accomplishments he'll add as a professional athlete.
