Clay Guida: Trash talk is working against Conor McGregor

During an excellent new episode of the It's Time podcast with Bruce Buffer, UFC featherweight Clay Guida sits down, relaxes and talks fresh off his dominant win last week over Robbie Peralta. Among other things, Guida gives his take on UFC 189's featherweight title main event between champion Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor.
Guida had plenty of good things to say about both men in his division, but also feels that the champion has a serious advantage over the challenger. Furthermore, Guida isn't buying into the notion that McGregor's constant trash talk and bullying is going to work in the brash Irishman's favor.
McGregor was indeed the star of the recent UFC 189 promotional world tour, what with his talks of murder and enslavement of impoverished Brazilian people, and momentarily stealing Aldo's belt. Guida warned that quiet dogs often bite the hardest, however.
"I think a quiet Jose Aldo, which we've seen, is a scary man. He's a scary and dangerous Aldo," Guida chuckled.
"The more Conor pushes him, the more he tries to bully him...I think it could get ugly."
But, isn't McGregor getting inside the champion's head? Won't he shatter the psyche of the UFC's longest-reigning world champion?
Guida thinks that is doubtful. "I think it's working against Conor, when push comes to shove," Guida reasoned.
"It's going to sell a lot of tickets, it's going to sell a lot of pay per views. It's going to be awesome. But Jose Aldo has never been more motivated than he is, now, in his fight career and, man, this guy, he's out for blood. I know that Conor is doing both - he's training hard and he's selling the fight - but I think Jose Aldo is going to show him what it's all about."
