Bethe Correia signs new 8-fight UFC deal ahead of showdown with Ronda Rousey
With her showdown against UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey set for Aug. 1 in Brazil, top contender Bethe Correia has secured her future with the promotion after signing a new eight-fight deal this week.
Correia is undefeated since joining the UFC in 2013 with three straight wins en route to earning her shot at Rousey at UFC 190.
Correia made the announcement about the new contract on Instagram.
"Today I am very happy!" Correia wrote. "Through hard work, blood, sweat, punches in the face, and more, I am renewing my contract with UFC for over 8 fights. I can give my fans at least eight fights on the small screen, and follow my life and my camp for another eight fights!"
Correia earned her shot at Rousey with two consecutive victories over the bantamweight champion's teammates Jessamyn Duke and Shayna Baszler.
Now the undefeated Brazilian will take a decided step up in competition as she faces the most dominant fighter on the planet with a chance to walk out as the new UFC champion if she's successful.
UFC 190 goes down on Aug. 1 in Brazil with Rousey vs. Correia set as the headline fight on the card.
