Andrei Arlovski needs shoulder surgery, out six-to-eight weeks

Cain Velasquez isn't the only top heavyweight who just went under the knife.

Andrei Arlovski had arthroscopic surgery on his left shoulder last week, his manager Leo Khorolinsky told UFC Tonight's Ariel Helwani on Wednesday. Doctors have told Arlovski that he's looking at six-to-eight weeks of recovery time. That means we won't be seeing "The Pitbull" again until the early part of 2015 at the very earliest.

Arlovski (23-10, 1 NC), the former UFC heavyweight champion, has won two in a row since returning to the UFC from World Series of Fighting earlier this year. He beat Brendan Schaub at UFC 174 in June and knocked out Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva in impressive fashion last month in Brazil.

The Belarus native is now ranked No. 7 among heavyweight contenders in the UFC and could only be a win or two away from a title shot.
