Anderson Silva on drug bust: 'I don't know what happened'

Well, we're back to this, we suppose.
When confronted by gossip cameras from TMZ recently, former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva said that when he heard he'd failed multiple drug tests for banned substances, including steroids, leading up to and after his UFC 183 win against Nick Diaz, he was shocked and at a loss for an explanation.
"I don't know what happened. I'm surprised," Silva said.
"When my manager called me and said, 'Anderson, we have a problem because ... the test for the commission is bad.' I said, 'What? I don't know what happened.'"
So, perhaps the fighter isn't going to own up to knowingly taking banned substances as was earlier reported. When asked if he could have taken some banned things in order to help his badly broken leg heal, Silva allowed that it was possible, but that he would need to check his supplements.
"Yeah, but I don't think so," he said. "I need to check all the supplements I use."
Unfortunately for Silva, since that checking did not happen before taking them, it seems likely that his win will be overturned and that he'll face a fine and suspension. He and Diaz are both on temporary suspensions, as they await disciplinary hearings (Diaz tested positive for marijuana metabolites post-fight).
Should that all happen, Silva had a bit of a strange suggestion. If the commission overturns his win, he will respect that decision and ask for a rematch against Diaz.
"I respect the commission now," Silva said. "When all this [is] done, I go fight Nick [in the] next one."
