Al Iaquinta batters Joe Lauzon for TKO win

LAS VEGAS -- Al Iaquinta scored the biggest win of his career Saturday night with a second-round TKO over Joe Lauzon on the main card of UFC 183. The fight was a violent one and close-fought for most of the duration.
In the first round, Lauzon landed the bigger power shots on the feet, while Iaquinta gamely countered and scored a quick takedown. "JLau" got back to his feet, defended a second takedown attempt and landed a big elbow at the end of the period.
In the second, Lauzon continued to stalk the New Yorker and scored often. However, Iaquinta turned the corner with a big right hand that hurt Lauzon.
From there, the TUF finalist continued to pile it on with punches, wobbling Lauzon. Lauzon refused to go down, punch after punch, however, and the referee was forced to call a halt to the bout with both men on their feet.
The call came at 3:34 of the second round.
The win is Iaquinta's third straight win by finish and improves his record to 11-3. Lauzon's loss snapped a two-fight win streak and dips his overall mark to 24-11.
