Abel Trujillo out; Gray Maynard now faces Ross Pearson in Maine

Published Aug. 4, 2014 5:27 p.m. ET

A change has been made to the upcoming UFC Fight Night on FOX Sports 1 card from Bangor, Maine, as Abel Trujillo has suffered an undisclosed injury in training, which has forced him out of his scheduled bout against Ross Pearson in next weekend's card.

Stepping in to replace him will be former UFC lightweight title contender Gray Maynard, who was already scheduled to fight on the same night against Fabricio Camoes on the undercard. UFC officials confirmed Monday that Maynard will now face Pearson instead; Camoes has been pulled from the show, and he will be rebooked for a different card on another date.

Maynard accepts the fight at a pivotal point in his career following two knockout losses in a row. The former "Ultimate Fighter" season 5 competitor fell to T.J. Grant via a vicious knockout before suffering the same kind of defeat to Nate Diaz at "The Ultimate Fighter 18" finale in 2013.

After an extended break from fighting, Maynard gets back in the Octagon with hopes of redemption on his mind as he faces Pearson, a former "Ultimate Fighter" winner, on the main card.
