Wozniacki captures top ranking

Caroline Wozniacki is officially No. 1.

The tennis star from Denmark took over the top ranking from Serena Williams on Thursday with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic at the China Open in Beijing.

The rise to No. 1 comes in a season when Wozniacki reached the quarterfinals at Roland Garros and the U.S. Open semifinals.

Wozniacki has 11 career singles titles and is the top seed in Beijing, where Williams pulled out because of injury.
