Wilander, who was briefly ranked No. 1 as a player in the 1980s, led Sweden to the Davis Cup semifinals in 2007. The Swedes also reached the quarterfinals three times under Wilander and assistant coach Joakim "Jocke" Nystrom.

Swedish Tennis Federation chief Henrik Kallen said Tuesday that "we are thankful for the years and successes we've had with Mats and Jocke at the helm."

Kallen said the federation would immediately start the search for their replacements.
