BASTAD, Sweden (AP) Fernando Verdasco saved the only break point he faced Wednesday to advance to his sixth Swedish Open quarterfinal with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Albert Montanes.
The fifth-seeded Spaniard, who won his seventh ATP title in Bucharest in April, was a finalist in Bastad in 2013.
Verdasco next faces Facundo Bagnis, who ousted fourth-seeded Marcel Granollers of Spain 7-5, 6-3. The 32-year-old Argentine capitalized on three of his seven break point opportunities to reach his second tour-level quarterfinal.
Third-seeded Albert Ramos-Vinolas prevailed over fellow Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena 7-6 (5), 6-3, to face the winner of the match between eighth-seeded Russian Evgeny Donskoy and Andrea Arnaboldi of Italy.
