Tomic admits driving charges

Published Nov. 4, 2012 1:00 a.m. ET

Australia tennis player Bernard Tomic has pleaded guilty to three of four driving charges he faced after twice being stopped by police on Australia Day in January.

Lawyer Chris Nyst told the Southport Magistrates Court on Monday that Tomic would plead guilty to two charges of breaching conditions of his special license and another of failing to keep left. But Nyst said Tomic would deny a charge of failing to stop for police.

Police allege Tomic failed to pull over despite being ordered to do so, instead driving to his home. Nyst said Tomic was obeying earlier police instructions to drive straight home.

The hearing continues.
