Maxime Hamou has been banned from the French Open after he repeatedly tried to kiss a reporter during a live television interview.

According to the French tennis federation, Hamou's accreditation has been revoked after he forcefully pushed himself on Eurosport journalist Maly Thomas while Thomas was trying to conduct a live segment with the Frenchman at Roland Garros.

The 21-year-old Hamou, ranked 287 in the world, lost to Pablo Cuevas in straight sets in the French Open first round on Monday.

The French federation issued a statement criticizing Hamou's ''reprehensible behavior with a journalist yesterday'' and said its disputes commission will investigate the case ''for improper conduct.''

Thomas told Huffington Post France that she found the situation "frankly disagreeable." "If it was not live I would have [punched him]."

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
