Sachin Tendulkar has been rested, while fast bowlers Ishant Sharma and Praveen Kumar have been dropped from the Indian squad for next month's limited-overs tri-series in Bangladesh.
Selectors recalled Shanthakumaran Sreethanth, who missed the ongoing series against Sri Lanka due to the swine flu, and Ashok Dinda in the 16-man squad for the Jan. 4-13 series involving Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
``Sachin Tendulkar desired to be rested for the tri-series at Bangladesh. He will play the tests against Bangladesh,'' Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary N. Srinivasan said in a statement reported by Press Trust of India late Friday.

India will play tests at Chittagong from Jan. 17-21 and Dhaka from Jan. 24-28 following the ODI series.
