Sweden beats Russia, gains Davis Cup quarterfinals

Sweden has reached the Davis Cup quarterfinals, eliminating Russia with a doubles victory in the first round.
Simon Aspelin and Robert Lindstedt beat Igor Kunitsyn and Dmitry Tursunov 6-4, 6-7 (6), 7-6 (6), 6-2 Saturday to give the Swedes an unassailable 3-0 lead in the best-of-five series.
Sweden will next play Serbia or India. Serbia is at home and ahead 2-1.
The Swedes took a 2-0 lead Friday on singles victories by Robin Soderling and Joachim Johansson. Soderling, ranked No. 4, beat Igor Andreev 6-3, 6-3, 6-1 before Johansson overpowered Teymuraz Gabashvili 6-3, 7-6, 6-4.
