SHAW LOOKS GOOD
SHAWS DILEMMA is the best bet of the night in the last of eight heats (9.45) of the William Hill St Leger at Wimbledon.
The selection looked very sharp in a recent 480 metre spin around the Plough Lane track.
With the slow starting Ten Dollars More on the inside of the trap six runner, a clear passage looks assured and our selection is taken to build-up a substantial lead and have enough in reserve to oblige.
In the opening heat (8.00) the inform BODELL CLARE will take plenty of stopping and in the 8.15, although the Mark Wallis trained Kinda Easy will come in for market support, better value is to be had with the Lorraine Sams trained BARAN PIMLICO after a good win at Hove.
Blue Square's 12-1 quote about the trap four runner winning the competition looks the each way shout.
Irish raider HOVEX BRANDY looks sure to improve throughout the event, but a trap one draw should be enough to secure victory in the 8.30 and the Paul Young trained FABULOUS MIND is also nicely housed in the same trap in the 8.45 as is HEAD ITON JASON in heat five (9.00).
Blue Square's 8-1 ante-post favourite Droopys Bradley will be all the rage in the 9.15, but Tony Collet's MINNIES PENSK represents a better priced alternative despite being drawn in trap three. In heat seven the Matt Dartnall trained GLENARD ROCKET is a proven performer.
Oxford stage three heats of their Gold Cup. In the opener (8.05) EVERLAST ROCKET looks an interesting recruit and in the 8.50 BALLYMAC ACE is nicely drawn in trap one. The red jacket suits the Nick Colton trained JOLLY POACHER like a glove and this classy performer rates a must-bet in the final neat (9.35).
Newcastle stages a good open card and the trainer to follow is Ted Soppitt. TAYLORS CRUISE boasts some good runs at Belle Vue and Sunderland and can take the 9.15.
The same trainer sends the classy TAYLORS RIVIERA to the traps in the 8.15 marathon event over 895 metres. This one has not been spotted since being beaten at odds-on in August, but a return to anything like her best will see a comfortable victory.
The semi-finals of the Laurels at Cork sees Blue Square's 5-4 favourite for the title TYRUR EDNA a deserved warm order in the 9.55. Conor Fahy's trap one runner flew round in a very speedy 28.41sec last Saturday and defeat cannot be envisaged here. The dog he beat then TUBBERTELLY DUBH is 7-4 to win the second semifinal (10.10). He can upset favourite Dalcash Cordosa.
The sprint final at Peterborough (8.12) looks another fine opportunity for the consistent ROTAR WING to add to his haul of golds. He should make light of his trap three draw. The final of the Fengate Collar (9.48) can go to LANRIGG LAD.
Monmore stages an interesting 480 metre open (7.26) with the consistent PROUD PATSY likely to lead the inside runners and the improving FATBOYZ ROMEO likely to lead the middle seeds. A reverse forecast is recommended.
FARGO BLUE is the one for the 9.58 and in the 416 metre event (7.58) there are a couple of early paced types trying this specialist trip for the first time. However, it may pay to stick with the tried and tested SEPTEMBER STAR who is nicely drawn in trap one and has a useful 24.48sec course and distance to his credit.
