Serena Williams: Withdraws from WTA Finals, Plans for 2017
Women’s tennis star Serena Williams withdraws from the WTA Finals due to injury for second straight season. Williams cites shoulder injury as reason.
Williams announced that she will miss the WTA Finals due to injury for the second straight season. The news comes as Williams is ranked 2nd in the world behind number 1 Angelique Kerber. Despite a grand slam win at Wimbledon, Williams and team characterized 2016 as a “bad” season.
The Williams’ team is focused on recovery and training leading up to her next planned tournament in January of 2017.
The world number 2 had a message for her fans regarding her withdrawal from the WTA Finals at Singapore.
