Japan's Yoshihito Nishioka reaches Atlanta quarterfinals

ATLANTA (AP) Japan's Yoshihito Nishioka beat fourth-seeded Alexandr Dolgopolov of the Ukraine 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 on Thursday to advance to the BB&T Atlanta Open quarterfinals.

The 20-year-old Nishioka will face Argentina's Horacio Zeballos, a 6-1, 6-4 winner over Germany's Tobias Kamke.

Fifth-seeded Fernando Verdasco of Spain also advanced, beating France's Julien Benneteau 6-1, 6-3. Verdasco will face the winner of the late match between second-seeded Nick Kyrgios of Australia and American Jared Donaldson.

On Wednesday, three-time defendiing champion John Isner overpowered France's Adrian Mannarino 6-4, 6-0 to set up an all-American quarterfinal against eighth-seeded Taylor Fritz. The 6-foot-10 Isner, a former University of Georgia star, has reached the finals in Atlanta five of the previous six years.

In the other quarterfinal, seventh-seeded Donald Young will play fellow American Reilly Opelka. The 18-year-old Opelka is 6-foot-11.
